Driver Awareness month is being celebrated throughout the United States, since the numbers were increasing at an alarming rate. The states began running awareness campaigns in hopes to spread the word and get in front of the deadly numbers. 

California DMV driver awareness month began around 2012 

AB 1785 prohibits cell phone and electronic wireless device usage among any driver.

2013 The California Dept of Motor Vehicles reported 426,000 handheld cell phone and texting convictions, along with over 57,000 tickets issued in the month of April.
